Learning to Walk Again

My day is usually filled with an inner stress, especially when I am around certain people. I try so hard to fight it, but it's there and I feel it wash away when I am alone. That was never me, to be filled with stress, anger, and so many negatively charged emotions.

I remember when I felt peace and joy in my life. That was because I was not focusing on myself and how "things" affected me. Each day I feel renewed in the fact that it is not about "ME", it's about HIM. There is joy in my salvation, there is joy in my relationship with Jesus Christ, and there is joy knowing that I can lay my burden down and not only will HE carry it for me ...HE gives me peace...it's in His time, in His time, He moves when we listen and obey.

I know I alone cannot love what is happening in my life, some things we just do not have control over, and rightfully so. As parents we worry, we take things personally and we hurt. As human -beings, we make stupid mistakes, we hurt people we love out of ignorance and stupidity. When I remember to begin my day by giving it to my Father, then He reminds me ...to be still, do not speak harshly, it's not your place to criticise, focus on the positive things of this world. I feel peaceful, I slip ( a lot) because old habits are hard to break, but the reward is calmness in my heart when I listen.

Washington's Crossing by David Hackett Fischer

I loved the historical perspective of this book. This was a very vivid depiction of the determination and strong conviction of the Founding Fathers and their personal fortitude to stay the course in horribly adverse conditions. It establishes and creates an amazing sense of pride and restores your vision for our country. It brings things into perspective.
